⚡️ Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, has plans to bring on more AI specialists in the UK, taking a different path from recent job cuts in the tech world.

Key points:

  • Apple is looking to hire AI experts, while big names like Amazon, Meta, and Google are letting people go.

  • Cook says Apple sees job cuts as a last option and is keen on investing in AI minds.

  • Tech giants are heavily investing in AI, with Amazon putting as much as $4B into an AI company called Anthropic.

  • The UK government and tech leaders believe the UK has what it takes to be a major force in AI.

Why this matters: Apple hasn't been too vocal about AI in recent product news, but they're not stepping back. They're clearly focused on growing their AI team, hinting at something exciting on the horizon.

The European Central Bank is looking into using AI for nine different tasks, including tools like ChatGPT. They're considering AI for jobs like checking inflation, summarizing paperwork, and monitoring big banks. However, they're cautious about letting machines have too much control.
